HOW IT WORKS

In the media path, out of the way

OVS is a standard SIP proxy with a media server anchoring RTP so the call can be recorded. The call is proxied, not re-originated, and the analysis only starts after the BYE.

While the call is live

    INVITE arrives

    Your switch routes the call to the OVS ingress. SDP is required; calls without it get a 488.

  2. 2

    Source IP is authorised

    The caller IP is matched against your CIDR whitelist, then account status, concurrency and balance are checked.

  3. 3

    Media is anchored

    Connection info in the SDP is rewritten so RTP flows through the media server, which writes a pcap per stream while relaying.

    Call is routed

    Longest-match prefix rule, whitelisted destination, account default or callback to the source IP. Custom SIP headers are captured to indexed CDR columns.

  5. 5

    Hangup

    A BYE from either side tears down media and reports the call metrics to the API.

After hangup, asynchronously

    RTP streams are parsed, G.711 is decoded to PCM, gaps are filled and a stereo 8 kHz WAV is written.

  2. Transcribe

    Each channel is transcribed separately so every line is attributed to caller or callee.

  3. Analyse

    A language model scores the transcript and metadata and returns the block, review or allow verdict.

  4. Deliver

    Fees are charged, alerts and automation rules fire, and signed webhooks are posted.

Because analysis runs after the call, a failure in the pipeline can never interrupt a live conversation.

ROUTE INTEGRITY

Catch the vendor, not just the caller

Fraud on a wholesale route does not always come from the A-number. Delayed-playback false answer supervision is a vendor swapping the callee to a looping recording mid-call so the billing keeps running. Open Voice Shield watches the callee channel for exactly that switch from interactive conversation to playback and raises a route alert with a confidence score.

Alongside it, every leg gets an estimated MOS from the E-model, jitter and packet loss, and the worst leg lands on the CDR so a degrading route shows up in the table, not in a complaint.

Whitelist your IP

Add your SIP server public IP as a CIDR entry. Authentication is by source IP, per tenant, and overlapping entries across tenants are rejected.

Add the destination

Tell OVS where to forward: the host, port and transport of your switch or carrier. Add prefix rules if different destinations need different handling.

Point a trunk at the ingress

Send traffic to the ingress on the Network page over UDP or TCP on port 5060. Make a test call and read the verdict the same afternoon.

Open Voice Shield (OVS) is an AI-powered SIP fraud analysis service built and operated by TelecomsXChange. It sits as a transparent hop on your existing SIP trunk, records and transcribes each call after it ends, and returns a verdict of block, review or allow with a probability score, a fraud category, the red flags found and a TCPA compliance note.

No. Signalling is proxied and RTP is relayed through the OVS media server so the call can be recorded, but nothing is injected into the audio and the analysis runs asynchronously after hangup. A failure anywhere in the analysis pipeline cannot interrupt a live call.

Three things: whitelist your SIP server public IP in the OVS portal (CIDR based, per tenant), add the destination OVS should forward to (your switch or carrier host, port and transport), and point a trunk at the OVS ingress shown on the Network page. There is no digest authentication, no agent to install and no change on the caller side. It works with any SIP-capable switch, SBC or PBX.

Pay-as-you-go is $0.02 per minute plus a per-call analysis fee that depends on the AI mode: Economy $0.02, Power $0.05 (default) or Max $0.15. A 3-minute call on Power costs $0.11.
